I prefer mp4 with H264 baseline and square pixels. Bu hey any will do. It is the content that matters.

I've always used avi at 720p for video editing since it seems to be the go-to acceptable format.

Well the AVI format is somehow good but waist a lot of space (normally big files)!!!!
