I honestly don't know what is NOT considered "mainstream" in Japanese porn. I was there in the 1990s and, being a porn junkie, made it a point to wander into their porn shops. That's where I first discovered bukkake and I was hooked ever since. As you may know, most of Japanese porn is censored so that you don't see the genitals or penetration. Because of that, I think, they put a big emphasis on "harder" themes like bondage, simulated rape and "creature" porn (the most well-known of which is the unexplainable "tentacle porn").

They also emphasize cum....slurping it, wearing it and drinking it. Gokkun was invented in Japan ("Gokkun" being the Japanese equivalent for the English term "Gulp").
